Wispy black clouds spread scarcely across the endless deep blue sky. Stars peeked out from around the clouds and poured down their light from above. The moon its self was hidden from view, it had fallen into one of the black holes in the sky. That's what Grey thought the clouds looked like, holes in the sky.. or scars. From the open cockpit of Blue he gazed up at the heavens to witness the twinkling of the lights. He felt bad for humans, they lived under ground and didn't have the opportunity to witness such wonders. Then again he felt bad for the beastmen; there weren't many that he knew that would stop and take the time to look up at the stars.
The dessert was quiet tonight, the winds had died down and the animals were silent this evening, it was odd but Grey looked past it. He wasn't worried about it, he was to wrapped up in the sky. With his hands behind his head and his legs crossed and propped up on on the edge of Blues controls Grey was very, very comfortable. His tail lay coiled around the seat and onto Grey's lap with the tip hidden beneath his shirt, in the dark moonless night it probably wasn't even visible within the shadows of Blue's cockpit.
A small blue light started blinking on the control panel, Grey was getting a call. This was fairly expected that he would get a call since it was about the same time he would be contacted each month but it was earlier in the night than normal. Grey quickly shot into action and in no time had Blue swinging it's arms about, taping the ground with each downward swing. As soon as the cockpit's hatch shut Grey answered the call.
A low gruff voice immediately began shouting at him and scolding him for not answering sooner. Then the questions ensued. "No haven't run into any humans recently sir." This was always such a bore to Grey. "Yes I know what to do if I spot a human sir." Every month the same routine over and over again. "I'll make sure to do that sir." It really seemed like a waste of time to him. "I UNDERSTAND, SIR." Grey hung up; he would probably catch some heat for that sometime, but then again he hadn't been back to a base in quite some time... and didn't plan to be.
Grey switched off Blue and set him down back to the position he had been in before the call and then settled himself back into the same comfy position. The sky was really something tonight, even seeing the clouds in the sky added something to the view.
